Growing up the daughter of immigrants, Maihuong Ta was drawn to a career where she could help others. She attended U.C. Davis focusing on pre-med studies and subsequently, obtained an academic scholarship to attend University of La Verne, College of Law. Throughout law school, Maihuong experience centered around pro-bono work and becoming a public defender. She clerked for the Federal Public Defender’s office. She also volunteered at a non-profit legal aid organization and Center for the Pacific Asian Family to advocate for sexual assault and domestic abused victims.
After several years as a defense attorney in workers compensation, she shifted over to the plaintiff side, where she draws on past experience to push claims and advocate for clients. Maihuong’s background in medical science has enhanced her ability to process and organize complex medical and legal concepts. She believes there is no greater professional joy than adding value to her clients’ lives by directing them through the workers compensation process and obtaining the benefits they deserve.
